The Commonwealth of Virginia invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Media Studies. This role is within a well-respected department that is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The selected candidate will engage in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, contributing to the academic growth of students and the department's mission.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality instruction in undergraduate and graduate courses related to media, journalism, and communication. Foster an engaging learning environment through effective advising and mentorship. Participate in research activities and seek funding opportunities to enhance the department's academic profile. Attend and contribute to departmental and institutional meetings and events. Collaborate collegially with faculty and staff while adhering to established timelines.

Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Media Studies, Communication, or a closely related field. Proven teaching experience in media or journalism disciplines. Research background in topics pertinent to journalism and media.

Preferred Qualifications

Relevant professional experience in the media industry. Demonstrated ability to teach through online platforms. A strong commitment to professional ethics, collaboration, and diversity. Experience engaging with students from various backgrounds and a dedication to enhancing access to education.
