Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia seeks a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Studies to join our team. As a tenure-track professor, you will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a specialization in critical thinking, globalization, and/or linguistics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a focus on critical thinking, globalization, and/or linguistics.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Engage in exemplary face-to-face and online teaching, using best practices and innovative pedagogies.
  • Actively engage in research and scholarship, with a focus on publishing in reputable academic journals.
  • Participate in departmental, college, and university committees, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Attend departmental meetings, engage with faculty, and meet university deadlines.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Studies, Cultural Studies, or African-American Studies.
  • Demonstrated record of teaching in the area of Interdisciplinary Studies or Cultural Studies, with a focus on critical thinking, globalization, and linguistics.
  • Experience with online teaching and the use of online learning management systems (LMS).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Considerable experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience teaching online using LMS such as Blackboard.
  • Experience with collegiate advising.
