About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our team as a Principal SLT in the Neurodevelopmental Diagnostic Service (NDS) and the Transforming Care Autism Team (TCAT).

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of the SLT service in the NDS and TCAT, ensuring SLT is fully integrated into the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide clinical expertise in Speech, Language, and Communication assessment in the field of neurodevelopmental services and mental health.
  • Hold a clinical caseload of autistic people aged 14 years plus with complex mental health needs.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes to upskill others in recognizing and managing risks in relation to eating, drinking, and swallowing difficulties.
  • Establish a clear pathway for SLT assessment and differential diagnosis of communication need within the ND assessment process.
About the Team

The NDS and TCAT teams consist of nurses, occupational therapy, psychology, peer support workers, psychiatry, as well as Speech and Language therapists. We provide both a diagnostic service and a Transforming Care autism team. This team works with autistic people who are at risk of admission or inpatients where the role of SLT is to work with the multidisciplinary team to formulate and manage risk through bringing an understanding of the person's communication needs.
