YHA is seeking to appoint an Assistant Hostel Manager for a full-time position of 42.5 hours per week.

What will your responsibilities be as Assistant Hostel Manager?

In this role, you will assist the hostel manager in overseeing the daily operational management of the hostel and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

You will play a key role in achieving targets across various aspects of the hostel's operations, including food and beverage services, while also focusing on maximizing revenue and managing costs.

Supporting the hostel manager, you will lead a team of staff and occasional volunteers.

Additionally, you will contribute to the daily operations of the hostel by engaging in housekeeping, reception, and food and beverage duties.

What Skills and Experience are required for the Assistant Hostel Manager role?

This position requires flexibility to cover various shifts and responsibilities. While prior experience in a customer-facing role is advantageous, it is not mandatory. Experience in hospitality or customer service, particularly in delivering high-quality service, is preferred.

As an Assistant Hostel Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the management of an operational budget and achieving key performance indicators (KPIs), thus previous leadership experience and budget management skills are desirable.

While food safety level 2 and APLH level 2 qualifications are beneficial, they are not essential. Experience in managing varying workloads and leading a team is crucial.

Strong communication skills, punctuality, and basic IT proficiency are also valuable assets.

A solid understanding of YHA's core mission and experience working collaboratively within a team are advantageous.
