Job Summary

The Michael Page Legal team is seeking an experienced Interim Governance Specialist to join our client, a leading financial services organization. As a pivotal member of the financial services department, this role will be responsible for the overall governance and compliance functions of the company.

About the Role

The successful candidate will possess a strong background in corporate governance, with exceptional managerial skills. They will report into the Compliance Director and be responsible for the corporate governance framework, organizing the co-sec function, and ensuring timely, precise, and effective board and committee support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all governance and compliance functions within the firm.
  • Develop and implement governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice to the board and senior management on governance matters.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with all relevant regulations and laws.
  • Provide SMCR support, including registrations, and become the SMCR SME.
  • Liaise with external regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare regular reports for the board on governance and compliance issues.
  • Participate in strategic planning and risk management activities.

Requirements

  • A degree in Law, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in corporate governance within the financial services industry, ideally in investment banking.
  • Hold a CGI or ISCA qualification.
  • Excellent knowledge of compliance regulations and laws with a basic understanding of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SMCR).
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and professional ethics.
