We are seeking a Technical Coordinator to join our dedicated team at our facility in Newport, South Wales. This position is conveniently located for candidates from various surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities

As a Technical Coordinator, you will report directly to the Senior Technical Manager and oversee two technicians in a UKAS accredited laboratory. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the UKAS materials testing laboratory
  • Ensuring compliance with UKAS accreditation and standards
  • Providing guidance to the Senior Technical Manager and operational staff regarding quality standards
  • Coordinating site testing services and ensuring accurate reporting of test results
  • Collaborating with operational teams to uphold material quality and workmanship standards
  • Offering technical support to mobile plants involved in asphalt, concrete, and hydraulically bound materials production
  • Addressing material and workmanship complaints in conjunction with our National Contracting and Supply teams
  • Delivering technical solutions and support to clients on significant projects and local authority frameworks

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of asphalt performance and testing. Ideal qualifications include:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering materials and testing processes
  • Familiarity with UKAS compliance and relevant technical standards
  • Experience in asphalt operations and methodologies
  • Proficiency in report compilation for internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to provide material selection and pavement design recommendations
  • Good IT skills
  • Awareness of Health and Safety policies and practices
  • A relevant degree is advantageous
