Job Overview

The Technical Coordinator will report directly to the Senior Technical Manager and will oversee a team of technicians within a UKAS accredited laboratory. This role is crucial for the testing and certification processes of asphalt produced by Tarmac.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Technical Coordinator include:

  • Supervising a team of 2 technicians
  • Managing the UKAS materials testing laboratory
  • Ensuring adherence to UKAS accreditation standards
  • Providing guidance to the Senior Technical Manager and operational teams regarding quality standards
  • Coordinating subcontracted site testing services and managing reporting of results
  • Collaborating with operational teams to uphold material quality and workmanship standards
  • Offering technical support for mobile plants producing asphalt and concrete
  • Addressing material and workmanship complaints in conjunction with relevant departments
  • Delivering technical solutions and support to clients on significant projects
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Technical Coordinator position will have a strong background in asphalt performance and testing. Candidates should possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering materials and testing procedures
  • Familiarity with UKAS compliance and relevant technical standards
  • Experience in asphalt operations and testing techniques
  • Proficiency in report preparation for various stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and confidence in stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to provide material selection and pavement design advice
  • Good IT skills
  • Understanding of Health and Safety regulations
  • A degree related to the field is advantageous
