We are seeking a Technical Coordinator to oversee our dynamic team at our laboratory. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of asphalt products, working closely with both technical and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager, the Technical Coordinator will lead a team of two technicians in a UKAS accredited laboratory, focusing on the testing and certification of asphalt materials. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising two laboratory technicians
  • Managing the UKAS accredited materials testing laboratory
  • Ensuring adherence to UKAS standards and maintaining accreditation
  • Providing guidance to the Senior Technical Manager and operational staff regarding quality assurance
  • Coordinating subcontracted site testing services and overseeing the reporting of results
  • Collaborating with operational teams to uphold material quality and workmanship standards
  • Offering technical support to mobile production units for asphalt and concrete
  • Addressing material and workmanship concerns in collaboration with contracting and supply teams
  • Delivering technical advice and solutions to clients on significant projects
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate for the Technical Coordinator position will have a strong background in asphalt performance and testing. Candidates should also possess:

  • In-depth knowledge of civil engineering materials and testing methodologies
  • Familiarity with UKAS compliance and relevant technical standards
  • Experience in asphalt operations and techniques
  • Proficiency in report preparation for various stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders
  • Confidence in providing material selection and pavement design recommendations
  • Good IT skills
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations
  • A degree related to the field is advantageous
