Norwich, Norfolk, United Kingdom Ormiston Families Full time
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join our dynamic team at Ormiston Families, a leading charity working with children, young people, and families in the East of England. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing outcome-based support to children and young people affected by the imprisonment of a parent or close family member.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, evaluate, and deliver a range of needs-led one-to-one interventions across the county, using a trauma-informed approach that prioritizes children and young people's participation.
  • Create safe spaces for children and young people to express their feelings and emotions, building positive memories and promoting emotional wellbeing.
  • Undertake collaborative and sensitive assessments of children and young people's needs and strengths, agreeing goals and creating an evidence base for support.
  • Engage effectively with children, young people, and families, recognizing the complex and traumatic histories that can make service engagement challenging.
  • Provide direct support to children, young people, and families on the waiting list, supporting them to work through pre-service information and activities.
  • Maintain clear and effective records of work with children, young people, and families, adhering to Ormiston Families' policies and procedures.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of professionals from various providers, generating referrals and creating options for additional support for children.
Requirements
  • A relevant qualification (minimum level 4) in Childhood Studies, Youth Work, Play/Art Therapy, Health & Social Care, Social Work, Teaching, or Family Support.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a relevant role, such as Social Work, Family Work, Children's Mental Health, or Youth Work.
  • Awareness of equal opportunities and ability to address discrimination.
  • A clean driving license and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience working directly with children, young people, and their families.
Benefits
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • 27 days annual leave (pro-rata for part-time employees).
  • Ability to buy or sell up to 5 days annual leave.
  • Group life assurance.
  • Pension with up to 9% employer contribution when matched by employee.
  • Sponsorship opportunities for employees who have completed their probationary period and been in post for at least 12 months.
