About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortuary Manager to lead our Regional Mortuary Service in BCUHB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of our mortuary and bereavement services, ensuring the highest standards of care and respect for our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Regional Mortuary Service, overseeing the management and supervision of mortuary and bereavement staff.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational pathways for the service, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with all stakeholders.
  • Manage and prioritize workload, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of services.
  • Supervise and train junior staff, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, including the Police, Coroner, and Medical Examiners Service, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in a recognized speciality or equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience working as a qualified APT, with a strong track record of leadership and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize with bereaved relatives and staff.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload, with a strong focus on quality and safety.
  • Knowledge of current mortuary practice, including legislation and guidelines related to death and organ retention.
