Job Title: Community Development Executive

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Community Development Executive will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of Friends of the Rail Park's (FRP) equitable development strategy. This position will be responsible for managing the strategy, planning process, and implementation of the Rail Park Equitable Development Agenda, as well as interfacing with various stakeholders, including FRP staff, board, and committees, community groups, funders, government agencies, and anchor institutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the RFP process and consultant contracting
  • Oversee the consultant team, including setting milestones, coordinating project meetings, and managing project timelines
  • Capture and organize project communications, reporting to FRP staff and board as needed, and developing status reports for stakeholders
  • Perform quality control on the project to maintain expected standards
Stakeholder Outreach and Partnership Development:
  • Cultivate new partnerships with nonprofits, institutions, businesses, and government agencies to create and implement the Equitable Development Plan (EDP)
  • Develop and manage the EDP Advisory Board
  • Manage ongoing community outreach efforts, including regular public presentations to community groups, business owners, funders, and government officials
Resource Development:
  • Work with the Executive Director to articulate funding priorities
  • Research and identify relevant funders and funding opportunities
  • Support the development of funding applications and submissions
  • Track awards, spend, and associated reporting requirements
Organizational Development and Support:
  • Integrate research and best practices in equitable development and community development into work
  • Develop communication systems to share best practices, highlight bright spots, and keep FRP staff and partners informed
  • Develop feedback loops and systems to collect input, analyze data, and share progress
  • Work with the Executive Director and board to manage and develop team members, cultivating a collaborative and inclusive team culture

Requirements:

  • Graduate degree in a related field, 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Experience implementing workforce development, housing policy, and/or small business enterprises strategies
  • Demonstrated track record of developing community support
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to understand and translate the Rail Park's mission and interests
  • Proven ability to manage complex budgets and project timelines
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to build a logical approach to addressing problems
  • Able to set short- and long-term planning goals in line with program priorities and available resources
  • Demonstrated ability to meet multiple deadlines while maintaining a high level of organization and delivering high-quality work
  • Able to develop and move projects forward with independence and autonomy, maintaining attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Sound judgment and integrity, with discretion in handling confidential information and the ability to conduct oneself in a highly professional manner
