A new opportunity has arisen for an AOV & Fire Alarm Maintenance Engineer to become a vital part of our expanding team at Fire Design Solutions. This role involves visiting client locations primarily in the London area, with potential for nationwide travel and overnight stays.

The successful candidate will be tasked with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical and fire alarm systems across diverse client sites. The Maintenance Engineer must possess the ability to diagnose and recommend solutions for malfunctioning or obsolete systems, and when necessary, repair or replace system components to mitigate recurring issues and ensure long-term reliability.

This position requires the upkeep of fire alarm systems and smoke venting systems in occupied buildings, as well as responding to emergency call-outs in accordance with service agreements. To excel in this role, a solid understanding of smoke ventilation systems, inverters, dampers, and detection systems is essential, along with the capability to work under tight deadlines and the ability to safely operate independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of Fire Alarm and AOV systems
  • Strong knowledge of BS5839, BS5266 & BS7671 standards
  • Delivering a comprehensive service to clients in line with British Standards
  • Participation in the out-of-hours call-out rota
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
  • Proficient in fault diagnosis
  • Collaboration with on-site management, property managers, and project teams
  • Ongoing administrative tasks including daily reporting, equipment details, timesheets, and expense forms
  • Understanding of smoke venting and fire alarm systems to BS5839 and BS7436 standards
