A new opportunity has arisen for an AOV & Fire Alarm Maintenance Engineer to become part of our growing team at Fire Design Solutions. The successful candidate will be tasked with visiting client locations primarily in the London area, with potential for travel across the country and overnight stays.

The individual will be accountable for the servicing, troubleshooting, and testing of electrical and fire alarm systems across a diverse range of client sites. The Maintenance Engineer must possess the ability to diagnose and suggest solutions for malfunctioning or obsolete systems and, when necessary, repair or replace system components to mitigate recurring issues and ensure long-term reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance of Fire Alarm and AOV systems
  • Strong understanding of BS5839, BS5266 & BS7671 standards
  • Delivering a thorough service to our clients in compliance with British Standards within a specified area.
  • Participation in the out-of-hours call-out rota (currently one week in every eight)
  • Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings
  • Capable of identifying and resolving issues
  • Collaborate with on-site concierge/building managers, property managers, design teams, project management, and installation departments
  • Ongoing administrative duties related to the role, including daily reporting, providing maintenance office staff with detailed information on faulty equipment, timesheets, vehicle inspections, and expense reports.
  • Knowledge of smoke venting and fire alarm systems in accordance with BS5839 and BS7436 standards
