Position Overview

We are seeking a Clinical Fellow at the FY2 level to become a vital member of our Cardiology department. This role is situated within the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust, where you will engage with a diverse patient population.

Although this position is not officially recognized for training, we are committed to supporting your professional growth through the development of a Learning Portfolio and regular educational evaluations with a Consultant Educator.

This is a remarkable opportunity for a Clinical Fellow to immerse themselves in the Cardiology team, taking on responsibilities for patient care within our specialized service.

Our cardiology department is located on the second level of the tower block, featuring an 11-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) and a dedicated cardiology ward with 19 beds, along with an additional 9-bed medical day-stay ward.

We provide a comprehensive array of Cardiology services for both in-patients and out-patients, with numerous advancements made in recent years, including the introduction of new diagnostic modalities.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be expected to:

  • Facilitate communication among nursing staff, junior doctors, patients, their families, and senior medical personnel.
  • Manage the daily care of day case and in-patients effectively.
  • Participate actively in ward rounds.
  • Attend general and specialized outpatient, diagnostic, and pre-assessment clinics.
  • Provide educational support to medical students as required.
  • Supervise and assist junior colleagues in their duties.
  • Engage in rostered emergency care responsibilities.
  • Maintain up-to-date administrative tasks, including letters, results, and discharge summaries.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development.
  • Participate in audit projects as necessary.
  • Attend weekly educational and multidisciplinary meetings.
