Position Overview

We are seeking to recruit a Senior Clinical Haematology Specialist. This opportunity is exclusively available to current specialist physicians holding substantive contracts.

You will become a vital member of a collaborative team comprising 15 other specialist colleagues, dedicated to providing comprehensive haemato-oncology and general haematology services. Your role will involve managing outpatient clinics, which are currently undergoing restructuring to enhance subspecialization. You will conduct four outpatient clinics weekly, including specialized Lymphoma/CLL clinics.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will integrate into a team of haematologists, focusing on the Myeloma sector within the Directorate. Participation in relevant multidisciplinary team meetings across various sites will be required.

The appointee will collaborate with local management and professional peers to ensure the effective operation of the Haemato-Oncology service. You will share responsibilities with fellow consultants in the medical management of the service, adhering to established policies and procedures.

In particular, if involved in managing Trust employees, adherence to local and national employment policies is expected. You will also ensure that adequate communication channels are established for hospital staff involved in patient care.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • Full GMC Registration
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • European Community Rights
  • MRCP UK or equivalent FRCPath (or equivalent) MD or PhD

Clinical Experience:

Essential:

  • Recent extensive experience in clinical and laboratory haematology.
  • Existing special interest in Myeloma or a willingness to develop this area.
  • Ability to independently manage patient care.

Desirable:

  • Experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience in service development initiatives.

Professional Collaboration:

Essential:

  • Ability to inspire and develop a multidisciplinary team while balancing departmental and personal goals.
  • Proven effectiveness in team collaboration.
  • Experience in clinical audit processes.
  • Ability to utilize evidence-based practices and clinical audits for informed decision-making.

  • Experience in teaching, particularly at the undergraduate level, with recognized teaching skills or medical education qualifications.
