Job Summary

The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and proactive Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist to join its team at the UHNM Heart Centre. This is a unique opportunity to work in a hardworking and cohesive group of clinical professionals providing high-quality care for patients.

Main Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing the highest standards of anaesthetic care for leading-edge procedures, including complex aorto-vascular work, Mitral Clip, Minimal Invasive Cardiac Bypass Surgery, and TAVI. They will work within the integrated cardiac services, which include Cardiothoracic Critical Care, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and a comprehensive Cardiology Department.

About the Role

The Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist will join a team of 10 experienced anaesthetists, working in three theatres that support two cardiac and one thoracic list each day. The department performs approximately 750 cardiac cases and 700 thoracic cases annually. The successful candidate will be focused on providing the highest possible standard of patient care and contributing to service growth, development, and innovation.

Key Requirements
  • FRCA or equivalent qualification
  • Full GMC Registration
  • Experience working as a Fellow or an Advanced Trainee in CT Anaesthesia
  • Independent TOE skills
