Job Summary

The University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and proactive Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist to join its team at the UHNM Heart Centre. As a key member of the integrated cardiac services, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care for patients undergoing complex cardiothoracic procedures.

Main Duties

As a Cardiothoracic Anaesthetist, you will be working closely with a team of 10 experienced anaesthetists, cardiothoracic surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing anaesthetic care for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery, including complex aorto-vascular work, mitral clip, minimal invasive cardiac bypass surgery, and TAVI.
  • Working collaboratively with the cardiothoracic surgery team to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of new anaesthetic techniques and protocols.
  • Contributing to the education and training of junior anaesthetists and other healthcare professionals.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced and skilled anaesthetist who possesses the following qualifications and attributes:

  • FRCA or equivalent qualification.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Experience working as a Fellow or Advanced Trainee in CT Anaesthesia.
  • Independent TOE skills.
  • Desirable: TOE certification, postgraduate qualification in medical education, experience of undergraduate teaching and supervision, experience of clinical supervision and mentorship, experience in research, peer-reviewed publications, and evidence of continuing research.
