Overview

As the leader of our countryside operations team, you will be instrumental in formulating and executing strategies aimed at safeguarding and enhancing the ecological integrity of our countryside assets. Your role will encompass the daily management of land, outdoor spaces, and natural resources across our diverse portfolio.

Working Hours: Full-time position, requiring 37.5 hours per week. Standard work hours are typically from 8am to 4pm, Monday through Friday. Due to the nature of this position, flexibility is required, including occasional weekend, holiday, and evening commitments.

Compensation: £38,250 per annum

Employment Type: Permanent

What to Expect in This Role

The Yorkshire Dales portfolio spans over 8,300 hectares of rich upland countryside, featuring wildlife-abundant tenanted farms. This diverse area includes woodlands, scattered trees, mire fen, various limestone habitats, and two national nature reserves, much of which is designated for nature conservation.

Key Responsibilities

You will cultivate and sustain robust professional relationships with colleagues, tenants, partner organizations, and neighboring land managers to help shape and implement our ambitious nature and climate initiatives.

Recently, we have secured a Landscape Recovery feasibility grant, and as the Countryside Operations Manager, you will collaborate closely with our project team to advance this feasibility phase.   • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in team development, change management, work planning, training, and volunteer engagement.
  • Exceptional Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a background in partnership management.
  • Knowledge of Nature Conservation: A solid understanding of conservation practices and access management.
  • Visitor Engagement: A passion for connecting people with nature, recognizing the significance of access, interpretation, and community involvement.
  • Financial Acumen: Proficiency in budget management, project oversight, financial planning, income generation, and contract administration.
  • Awareness of Health and Safety: Familiarity with compliance issues related to countryside management and visitor activities.
  • A valid driving license.
