Job Overview

The Compliance function within the Private Banking (PB) sector is essential for upholding the integrity of our operations at J.P. Morgan. This role focuses on fostering a robust compliance culture by interpreting and applying relevant regulatory standards that influence our global business practices. Our Compliance teams collaborate closely with various departments, including legal, risk management, and audit, to identify, assess, and monitor compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

As a Compliance Associate specializing in Mortgages and Deposits within the Private Banking sector, you will play a vital role in supporting both regional and global compliance initiatives. Your responsibilities will encompass providing advisory support to PB personnel, particularly concerning the European regulatory framework and its implications for our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Head of Compliance for the Private Banking division.
  • Offer compliance guidance across all aspects of the PB business, focusing on Mortgages and Deposits, while ensuring adherence to EU/UK regulations.
  • Assist in managing client complaints and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Mortgages, Deposits, and Complaints Handling in the EMEA region.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of the Compliance Monitoring and Testing program.
  • Support governance reporting to legal entity committees.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and advise on their implementation.
  • Review and assist in the development of policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the assessment of risks and compliance obligations related to new business initiatives.
  • Facilitate communication with regulators and support regulatory examinations as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in banking, risk management, or financial services with a focus on legal or regulatory aspects.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial services regulations, particularly in Mortgages and Deposits.
  • Experience in compliance within the private banking or wealth management sectors.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Proactive attitude with a desire to deepen knowledge of financial markets and regulations.
  • University degree required.
  • Ability to convey complex information clearly and drive actionable outcomes.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in project delivery and process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in English, with additional language skills in French and/or German being advantageous.
  • A positive and professional demeanor.
