Job Title: Assistant Accountant

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team at Adele Carr Recruitment. As an Assistant Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our finance department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare daily reconciliations of regulated client bank accounts as per CASS 13.
  • Ensure timely transaction of client funds and related fees each day.
  • Prepare daily reconciliations of unregulated bank accounts.
  • Update our accounting software (QuickBooks Online) daily with transactions related to bank accounts, credit cards, PayPal, GoCardless, Stripe, and loans.
  • Collate and post purchase invoices into QuickBooks Online daily.
  • Investigate accounting queries raised by Credit Control.
  • Manage expense claims and other accounting queries raised internally or by suppliers.
  • Liaise with our data analyst to resolve and investigate data reconciliation issues, as necessary.
Weekly Activities:
  • Prepare cheque payments and write back bad debts when cash is received, following internal Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Prepare and submit the supplier payment run.
  • Review and chase for missing supplier invoices.
  • Verify third-party VAT registration status using the relevant database, ensuring supplier records are up to date in the relevant systems.
  • Set up supplier master card details in QuickBooks Online.
Monthly Activities:
  • Prepare the monthly payroll and set up related payments.
  • Manage pension contributions and payments.
  • Submit payroll data to HMRC in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform basic analysis of management information, working with Excel and relevant systems.
  • Assist in preparing management accounts.
  • Review, input, and pay employee expense claims.
  • Review system settings and workflows, ensuring functionality and compliance in collaboration with the departmental lead.
Quarterly and Annual Activities:
  • Prepare and submit the VAT return.
  • Prepare and submit year-end accounts.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to client confidentiality, GDPR, and FCA regulatory requirements, handling personal data in line with company policies.
  • Commitment to the company's high standards of customer care.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and any rules set by the Regulator (as applicable to the role).
  • Ensure adherence to consumer duty responsibilities relevant to the role.
  • Maintain personal learning and development in accordance with company, legal, regulatory, and industry guidelines.
  • Perform other duties within your skills and abilities as reasonably instructed.
Requirements:
  • AAT (or equivalent) qualified or working towards qualification.
  • Proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or Bookkeeper.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Clerical and administrative experience.
  • Proficient in Excel, with demonstrable knowledge of Excel functions.

Working Hours: Start anytime between 8am and 9.30am and finish between 4pm and 5.30pm

Hybrid: 2 days from home, 3 days in office

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits: Company pension, On-site parking, Work from home

Schedule: Monday to Friday
