**About the Opportunity**
Jacobs are recruiting Decommissioning Operatives to support projects support in delivering our exciting range of projects involving decommissioning, characterisation, decontamination and waste management.
The role will be based at one of our Jacobs offices: Birchwood, Harwell, or Westlakes Cumbria, and support projects on sites across the UK. You will be required to work at sites across the UK, with travel and site allowances paid to ensure you are comfortable wherever you are based.
The role will also provide development opportunities, allowing the opportunity to develop further site management skills.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Assist in the production of documentation such as methods statements and risk assessments.
- Use and deploy equipment and hand tools used for sampling, decontamination and decommissioning.
- Attend, participate in and periodically lead toolbox talks.
- Ensure that tools, equipment and materials brought into and used in the area are fully checked and are compliant with HSE requirements.
- Ensure that no work is carried out unless supported by the relevant specific method statements, risk assessments and work permits.
- Carry out periodic HSE inspections in the area.
- Ensure that all incidents and near misses are reported
**Here’s what you’ll need**:
- Experience in the Nuclear Industry.
- Experience using hand-tools, power tools, abrasive wheels etc
- A general engineering, craft or building background and / or knowledge gained through experience and on the job training
- Relevant CSCS card discipline for construction sites (desirable)
- Relevant security clearance for Nuclear Licensed sites (desirable)
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations
- 4 GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above and include Mathematics and English.
- UK Driving Licence.
- Competent user of MS Office
