Senior Building Surveyor – Romford, East London / Hybrid

This position is for a Senior Building Surveyor at a well-established property consultancy located in Romford, East London, offering a competitive salary of up to £70,000 along with hybrid working options.

The consultancy prides itself on maintaining long-term relationships with clients and provides a comprehensive range of services to both private and public sector clients. With a dedicated team of 30 professionals, the firm specializes in site inspections, quantity surveying, project management, and building surveying. The work environment is friendly, emphasizing a healthy work-life balance while managing projects across London and the South East. Candidates must possess a solid background in professional services and project management within a consultancy setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct a full spectrum of project and professional duties for both private and public sector clients, covering various sectors including residential, commercial, retail, education, leisure, industrial, and healthcare refurbishment and remedial projects.
  • Perform Fire Risk Assessments (training available).
  • Engage in project work, including the preparation of tender documents and post-contract administration.
  • Manage JCT Intermediate and JCT Design and Build contracts.
  • Gather site information and produce clear, concise reports.
  • Conduct site surveys and reporting, including Schedules of Condition and Defect Diagnosis.
  • Prepare condition survey reports for planned maintenance and asset expenditure planning.
  • Draft tender documents for refurbishment and alteration works.
  • Handle party wall surveying and dilapidations.
  • Develop specifications and schedules.
  • Provide feasibility estimates.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in the field.
  • MRICS or MCIOB qualifications, or relevant experience will be considered.
  • A consultancy background is essential.
  • Strong client-facing skills.
  • Experience in refurbishment and/or remedial project management.
  • Professional services experience, including condition surveys and defect diagnosis.
  • Fire Risk Assessment knowledge is advantageous (training can be provided).

  • Competitive salary ranging from £55,000 to £70,000 (negotiable).
