Job Description

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Drilling Engineer to join our team in Aberdeen. As a key member of our drilling operations team, you will be responsible for designing and planning wells, as well as overseeing the execution of drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Well Design and Planning: Design wells and create well programs in compliance with our Management System by analyzing offset data, generating and evaluating design options, assessing risk, and preparing detailed design and program documents.
  • Drilling Operations: Prepare examination and notification/consent applications, prepare time and cost estimates, and assist the Drilling Accountant with cost tracking during well operations.
  • Procurement and Logistics: Procure services, equipment, and materials, and coordinate suppliers and service providers for drilling, completing, or working over the well.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for pre-contract invitation to tender and tender evaluation processes, and assist with commercial contract drafting.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and present well design reviews, risk assessments, and program amendments, and compile weekly summaries of well operations for the UK HSE.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Participate in daily calls to the rig, assist the project team in organizing support activities, and compile comprehensive End-Of-Well Reports.
Requirements:
  • Well Design and Planning Experience: Knowledge and experience in well design and planning, including ERD design and practices, complex well paths, and managing anti-collision on a congestion well pattern.
  • Technical Skills: Experienced user in Landmark well planning software package, operational experience of slot recovery/P+A operations, and UK platform wells operation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of the UK regulatory regime and compliance with company Management System.
  • Education and Certifications: Current IWCF L4 Well Control and UK Medical and Survival certifications.
