Job Description

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Drilling Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and planning wells, as well as providing technical support for drilling operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Well Design and Planning: Design wells or work from designs provided by senior drilling engineers, creating well programs in compliance with the company's management system by analyzing offset data, generating and evaluating design options using Landmark software, assessing risk, and preparing detailed design and program documents.
  • Operations and Management: Prepare time and cost estimates, assist drilling accountants with cost tracking during well operations, procure services, equipment, and materials, and coordinate suppliers and service providers for drilling, completing, or working over wells.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for pre-contract invitation to tender and tender evaluation processes, assist in commercial contract drafting, prepare and present risk assessments, issue program amendments as required, and participate in daily calls to the rig.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Compile comprehensive End-Of-Well Reports, ensure all daily reports received from offshore are correct and filed correctly, and meet all company, partner, and regulatory reporting requirements at the end of well or project.
  • Offshore Support: Participate in wells' duty rota and provide support to the Incident Management Team in the event of a rig-related incident.
Requirements:
  • Experienced user in Landmark well planning software package.
  • Complex well paths and managing anti-collision on a congestion well pattern for a mature field.
  • UK regulatory regime.
  • IWCF L4 Well Control and UK Medical and Survival certifications.
