Job Description

Job Title: Drilling Engineer - Senior Drilling Engineering Specialist

Job Summary:

Orion Group is seeking a highly skilled Drilling Engineer to join our team as a Senior Drilling Engineering Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and planning wells, creating well programs, and ensuring compliance with our company's Management System.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and plan wells, creating well programs in compliance with our company's Management System
  • Analyze offset data, generate and evaluate design options using Landmark software
  • Assess risk, prepare detailed design and program documents
  • Prepare time and cost estimates, assist Drilling Accountant with cost tracking during well operations
  • Procure services, equipment, and materials, coordinate suppliers and service providers
  • Provide technical support for pre-contract invitation to tender and tender evaluation processes
  • Prepare and present risk assessments, issue program amendments as required
  • Participate in daily calls to the rig, assist project team in organizing support activities
  • Compile comprehensive End-Of-Well Report, ensure daily reports received from offshore are correct and filed correctly
  • Compile well file (hard copy and electronic) with data accumulated during well construction phase
  • Support well delivery efficiency with benchmarking and performance analysis
  • Assist Wells Function by providing input and resource to improve Wells Management System, Wells supply chain planning, and other functional processes
  • Occasional offshore visits to support well operations
  • Meet all company, partner, and regulatory reporting requirements at the end or well or project
  • Participate in Wells' duty rota, provide support to Incident Management Team in the event of a rig-related incident
  • Well design and planning of P+A activities
  • Experienced user in Landmark well planning software package
  • Complex well paths and managing anti-collision on a congestion well pattern for a mature field
  • UK regulatory regime
  • A current IWCF L4 Well Control and UK Medical and Survival are also required

Requirements:

  • Highly skilled Drilling Engineer with experience in well design and planning
  • Strong knowledge of Landmark software and UK regulatory regime
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel occasionally for offshore visits
