About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Manager to lead our design team in delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions for Network Rail's North-West & Central Enhancements Framework and Access for All schemes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design Leadership: Oversee the design process from conception to completion, ensuring all designs meet project requirements and specifications.
  • Team Management: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and contractors, to deliver integrated design solutions.
  • Design Documentation: Oversee the preparation of design documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Risk Management: Manage design-related risks, identifying and implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with Network Rail and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to the design team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Project Delivery: Ensure all design activities are delivered within budget and on schedule.

Requirements:

  • Education: Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Professional Membership: Professional membership with a recognized institution (e.g., ICE, MIET, IEE, IMechE).
  • Experience: Extensive experience in design management within the rail infrastructure sector.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of managing large-scale projects on Network Rail infrastructure.
  • Design Standards: Strong knowledge of relevant design standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
