In the upcoming year, their sustainability initiatives will play a pivotal role in executing various employment programs and innovative landscaping projects. They are in search of a Sustainability Program Coordinator to oversee and manage the program's operations, which are essential for the success of these initiatives, while inspiring and guiding a team of Supervisors who will train individuals entering the industry.

Role Overview

The implementation of training programs is a crucial component of the organization’s Employment Skills & Training initiative. The Sustainability Program Coordinator will lead and manage the program, which supervises the maintenance and landscaping contracts executed by the teams.

The Coordinator will be accountable for ensuring that all contracts are fulfilled punctually and within budget, while providing long-term unemployed trainees with optimal opportunities to enhance their skills and gain the necessary qualifications for careers in horticulture and related fields.

The position involves direct management of the Supervisors and Support Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Supervisors, ensuring effective staffing, resource management, and the efficient utilization of staff and trainee skills.
  • Plan, budget, and execute an annual schedule of landscaping and maintenance projects through the teams.
  • Effectively manage subcontractors on-site, ensuring their competence and the quality of their work meets the highest standards.
  • Supervise the training and management of trainees engaged in landscape enhancement and maintenance projects across the operational area.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices and compliance with internal project management and health & safety protocols, guaranteeing proper resource management and financial processes.
  • Ensure all program work is executed to the highest quality, meeting client expectations and targets.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant qualification in horticulture, landscaping, or management, such as a BTEC, NVQ, or RHS at Level 3 (minimum requirement).
  • Extensive experience in supervising the completion of landscape projects.
  • Ability to provide guidance, support, and motivation to staff across various locations.
  • Proficient in planning and managing complex work schedules, allocating resources, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Capability to enhance quality standards for both landscape construction and maintenance projects, including providing constructive feedback to staff.
  • Experience in supervising the execution of landscaping projects by team members with limited skills and experience.
  • Understanding of relevant health & safety legislation and its implementation.
  • Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel), internet, email, and project management and financial systems.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace and community.
  • Proven track record in costing and securing landscaping and maintenance contracts.
  • Experience in successfully delivering contracts through both in-house teams and subcontractors.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with in-house Landscape Architects and Community Team members to provide design-build solutions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to placing trainees at the center of service delivery and supporting their career progression.
