About the Role

The Aurora Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated Class Teacher to join our team at Aurora Woodlands School. As a SEN English Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality educational activities and experiences for our pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver the curriculum as prescribed by our schemes of work, adapting it to meet the needs of pupils with SEN.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that are stimulating, relevant, and well-structured to cater to a wide range of abilities and communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and other members of the leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of the school's vision, ethos, and objectives.
  • Implement the school's educational vision and direction, promoting effective teaching and support, and ensuring sustained improvement in pupils' spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental, and physical well-being.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, support, and standards of pupils' achievement, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement.
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring an effective induction for new starters.
  • Work in partnership with school staff, parents, carers, and other agencies to provide for the academic, spiritual, moral, social, emotional, and cultural well-being of pupils and their families.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Desirable but not essential: knowledge and experience of the KS3 and 4 curriculum and examinations
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt it for pupils with SEN
  • Desirable: experience of working with young people with ASD and SEMH
  • Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, including students with anxiety
  • Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
  • A flexible approach and high-level creativity
