Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

Location: Darwen, Lancashire

About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a large SEN school in Darwen. As a key member of our support staff, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to provide high-quality support to students with complex needs related to Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, and other conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in Planning and Evaluating Learning Activities: Work with teachers to develop and implement individualized learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Provide Feedback on Pupil Progress: Regularly assess and provide constructive feedback on student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  • Support Teacher in Monitoring and Assessing Progress: Collaborate with teachers to monitor student progress, identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
  • Promote Positive Behavior and Concentration Levels: Develop and implement strategies to promote positive behavior and concentration levels among students.
  • Encourage Holistic Development of Students: Support students in developing their social, emotional, and academic skills.

Requirements:

  • Experience in SEN Setting: A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a SEN setting is required.
  • UK Driving License and Own Vehicle: A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle are essential for this role.
  • Qualification in Support Work for Teaching and Learning in Schools: A qualification in support work for teaching and learning in schools is highly desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English Qualification: A GCSE maths and English qualification is required.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding Principles: A strong understanding of safeguarding principles and practices is essential.
  • Desire to Prioritize Child's Needs: A genuine desire to prioritize the needs of the child is essential for this role.
