Key Duties:

  • Provide individualized and small group assistance to students with special educational needs in KS2.
  • Support the class teacher in designing and implementing inclusive lessons tailored to the needs of SEN students.
  • Execute individualized education plans (IEPs) and modify learning resources to accommodate students' unique requirements.
  • Track and document students' progress, offering constructive feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Encourage students' social and emotional growth, fostering a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external specialists to achieve optimal outcomes for students.
  • Assist with personal care needs, if necessary.
  • Ensure a safe, supportive, and stimulating learning space.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Experience in supporting children with special educational needs, especially in a primary school context.
  • A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN Diploma).
  • Strong comprehension of the challenges and strategies associated with aiding SEN students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEN.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • First Aid and Safeguarding training (preferred).
