A friendly primary school in Blackburn is on the lookout for a skilled SEN Teaching Assistant to join their Key Stage 2 (KS2) team. This position offers a unique chance to significantly impact the lives of young learners by delivering personalized support and creating a nurturing educational atmosphere.
Key Duties:
- Provide individualized and small group assistance to students with special educational needs in KS2.
- Support the class teacher in designing and implementing inclusive lesson plans tailored to the needs of SEN students.
- Execute individualized education plans (IEPs) and modify learning resources to accommodate students' specific requirements.
- Track and document students' progress, offering constructive feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Encourage students' social and emotional growth, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and external specialists to achieve the best outcomes for students.
- Assist with personal care needs when necessary.
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and engaging learning space.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Experience in supporting children with special educational needs, particularly in a primary educational setting.
- A relevant qualification in education or childcare (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, SEN Diploma).
- Strong understanding of the challenges and strategies involved in supporting SEN students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine enthusiasm for aiding children with SEN.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- First Aid and Safeguarding training (desirable).
