Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced English Teacher to join our team at a UK-wide SEN Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English to students with autism and learning difficulties, aged 11-16, in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Contribute to the development and delivery of the English curriculum, taking into account the educational, physical, and social needs of students.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other staff members as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Lesson Planning and Delivery: Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons, using a range of teaching strategies to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Monitor and assess student progress, setting and reviewing targets to optimize learning and achievement.
  • Communication and Reporting: Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and senior staff to ensure that students receive the support they need to succeed.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification, with evidence of in-service training.
  • Teaching Experience: Proven experience of teaching English to students with autism and learning difficulties, up to GCSE level.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profiles, as well as understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
  • Behaviour Management: Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
