About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English teacher to join our team at a large SEN school in Darwen. As an English teacher for SEN students, you will be responsible for providing high-quality educational activities and experiences to enable students to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lesson Planning: Plan and deliver lessons that are stimulating, relevant, and well-structured to cater to a wide range of abilities and communication needs.
  • Classroom Management: Manage the day-to-day running of the class and other relevant aspects of the school.
  • Collaboration: Work with the Head Teacher and other members of the leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of the school's vision, ethos, aims, and objectives.
  • Teaching and Learning: Deliver effective teaching and learning, monitor, and evaluate the quality of teaching support and standards of students' achievement.
  • Professional Development: Participate in the recruitment and retention of the best employees and ensure an effective induction for all new starters.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher status
  • Experience: Desirable but not essential, knowledge and experience of the KS3 and 4 curriculum and examinations
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN
  • SEN Experience: Desirable, experience of working with young people with ASD and SEMH
  • Safeguarding: Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedure
