Job Title: SEN English Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN English Teacher to join our team at The Aurora Group. As a SEN English Teacher, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality education to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver the curriculum as prescribed by our schemes of work, adapting it to meet the needs of students with SEN.
  • Plan and deliver lessons that are stimulating, relevant, and well-structured to cater to a wide range of abilities and communication needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head Teacher and other members of the leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of the school's vision, ethos, and objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching, support, and standards of students' achievement, using benchmarks and setting targets for improvement.
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff, ensuring an effective induction for new starters.
  • Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other agencies to provide for the academic, spiritual, moral, social, emotional, and cultural well-being of students and their families.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher status
  • Desirable but not essential, knowledge and experience of the KS3 and 4 curriculum and examinations
  • Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt it for pupils with SEN
  • Desirable, experience of working with young people with ASD and SEMH
  • Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedure
  • Ability to create and maintain nurturing relationships with young people
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, including strategies for students with anxiety
  • Knowledge of visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners
