About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled professional to join our team as the Head of Midwifery and Clinical Leadership at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust. This is a key role within our maternity service, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective clinical leadership to the maternity service, ensuring that high-quality patient care is delivered in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Develop and implement clinical strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement policies and procedures that support the delivery of high-quality patient care.
  • Provide guidance and support to midwives and other healthcare professionals to ensure that they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including other healthcare providers and community organizations.
  • Contribute to the development of the trust's clinical strategy and ensure that the maternity service is aligned with this strategy.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to the trust's leadership team on clinical matters.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with NMC registration.
  • Qualified to Masters level or equivalent.
  • A Postgraduate management qualification or substantial relevant experience at senior level.
  • Evidence of strong and recent commitment to continuous development.
  • Extensive senior clinical and management experience.
  • A broad and highly developed understanding of nursing and midwifery policy and its implications for the workforce and future healthcare delivery.
  • Detailed knowledge of NHS practices, policies and procedures and experience of implementing new policies across multiple service areas.
  • Demonstrable experience of working successfully across functional boundaries at strategic level.
  • Experience of successfully managing many services in a complex organization; including people and budgetary management.
  • Experience of managing disciplinary and capability processes, including regulatory referrals.
  • Experience in preparation of information to present to a wide variety of audiences, internal and external to the trust.
  • Demonstrable experience of overseeing initiatives; leading successful change management; service redesign processes; leading cost improvement programmes.
  • Experience of providing expert clinical leadership in collaboration with multidisciplinary staff across the organization and external stakeholders.
  • An in-depth understanding of the maternity governance framework, including how this is organized to support the progress with the maternity strategy and safe, quality services.
  • Can demonstrate the successful implementation of a range of initiatives across multiple services.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience at a senior level in maternity.
  • Acute awareness and experience of developing an environment where equality, diversity and inclusion is prioritized in all decisions.
