Position Overview

We are seeking a seasoned professional to take on a pivotal role within our aseptic services department. The ideal candidate will possess extensive leadership experience in managing aseptic units and excel in guiding large teams to provide exceptional service to our patients.

Drawing on your substantial background in pharmacy aseptic production at a leadership level, you will oversee the operational execution of technical aseptics within the chemotherapy unit. This role involves supporting the development and management of all facets of the MHRA licensed aseptic production services. Collaboration with the pharmacy Quality Assurance and Production teams will be essential to ensure that all production services comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

You will be a dynamic and experienced leader with proven skills in aseptic unit management. Your commitment to delivering high-quality pharmacy aseptic production services to patients at UCLH is crucial. Significant experience in service and staff management is required, along with GPHC registration as a pharmacy technician or equivalent registration in aseptic services. Experience with the MHRA and other external auditing bodies is also necessary. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of the pharmacy production team. A well-developed capacity for teamwork and communication, coupled with an enthusiastic, flexible, and professional demeanor, is vital.

Main Responsibilities

The UCLH pharmacy aseptic production service operates under an MHRA MS licence and encompasses aseptic units for chemotherapy and CIVAS/PN. The cytotoxic unit dispenses over 50,000 doses annually, with 20% allocated for clinical trials. The CIVAS/PN service produces more than 8,000 PN bags and over 12,000 CIVAS doses each year.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Acting as a deputy in all technical management areas for the Operational Manager of Aseptic Services.
  • Providing technical leadership, management, and development for chemotherapy services.
  • Leading and supporting the formation of a high-quality, skilled, and motivated pharmacy production chemotherapy team.
  • Facilitating patient and clinical team engagement across pharmacy aseptic services.
  • Overseeing all technical aspects of the aseptic chemotherapy manufacturing service, ensuring that all products are produced to the highest quality standards, reinforced by GMP and QA systems.
