Leveraging your background in pharmacy aseptic production at a managerial level, you will oversee the operational execution of technical aseptics within the chemotherapy unit. You will collaborate closely with the pharmacy Quality Assurance and Production teams to ensure that all production services comply with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader with proven experience in aseptic unit management and a commitment to delivering high-quality pharmacy aseptic production services to patients. Essential qualifications include significant service and staff management experience, GPHC registration as a pharmacy technician or equivalent aseptic services certification, and familiarity with the MHRA and other external auditing bodies. Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills are crucial, along with the ability to function as an integral member of the pharmacy production team. A well-developed ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively, coupled with an enthusiastic, adaptable, and professional demeanor, is essential.

Main Responsibilities

The UCLH pharmacy aseptic production service operates under a MHRA MS licence and encompasses aseptic units dedicated to chemotherapy and CIVAS/PN. The cytotoxic unit is responsible for dispensing over 50,000 doses annually, with 20% allocated for clinical trials. The CIVAS/PN service dispenses more than 8,000 PN bags and over 12,000 CIVAS doses each year.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Acting as a deputy in all technical management areas for the Operational Manager of Aseptic Services.
  • Providing technical leadership, management, and development for chemotherapy services.
  • Leading and supporting the formation of a high-quality, skilled, and motivated pharmacy production chemotherapy team.
  • Facilitating patient and clinical team engagement across pharmacy aseptic services.
  • Overseeing all technical aspects of the aseptic chemotherapy manufacturing service, ensuring that all products are produced to the highest quality standards, in compliance with GMP and QA systems.
