Materials Science Research Centre (MSRC):

The MSRC drives innovative research focused on the invention and experience of materials to address key global issues, particularly in environmental sustainability and human health. The Centre promotes interdisciplinary research, merging science with art and design (STEAM) to tackle these challenges. The MSRC collaborates with academic and industry partners across the UK and internationally to advance its research agenda.

UKRI Interdisciplinary Textiles Circularity Centre:

The Textiles Circularity Centre is a flagship initiative of the MSRC, funded through the UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) National Interdisciplinary Circular Economy Research Programme. The Centre aims to foster a circular textiles economy for the UK's SME apparel-fashion industry, focusing on using bio waste and enhancing consumer participation in material circularity. This initiative seeks to drive innovation within UK textile manufacturing, reduce dependency on imports, and promote sustainability within the industry.

Job Summary:

The Textiles Circularity Centre Administrative Assistant will provide comprehensive administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the Centre during its final stages. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, coordinating communication with stakeholders, and assisting in the planning and execution of events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the Centre, including maintaining accurate records and coordinating communication with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of events, including managing logistics, travel arrangements, and room bookings.
  • Administer financial processes, including expense tracking and processing payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with College procedures.
  • Coordinate Centre needs, including travel arrangements and event support, to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements:

This is a fixed-term position working 0.6 FTE (3 days per week). The successful candidate will have a high level of proficiency in productivity tools such as Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, with experience in financial management processes.
