Job Summary

The Cashier and Sales Associate is responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers. This includes:

Customer Service

  • Project a positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware at all times.
  • Greet customers entering and throughout the store, thanking them by name when possible.
  • Provide assistance to customers with store layout and product location.
  • Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
  • Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly and effectively.
  • Communicate any problems or issues that require management assistance.

Register Operations

  • Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
  • Responsible for balancing the register drawer.
  • Adhere to any store programs or promotions that require implementation at the cash registers.
  • Participate in store and Cashier meetings.

Front End Appearance and Upkeep

  • Keep the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean at all times.
  • Face and dust front end fixtures.
  • Assist with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotating fresh merchandise as seasons change.
  • Ensure fresh ads are stocked in shopping carts at all times.
  • Ensure forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
  • Assist with decorating the front end according to the store program.
  • Call for cart pickups when necessary.
  • Inform management when merchandise returns need to be put away.

Other Essential Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They will also be able to exhibit and incorporate our Core Values into daily decisions and interactions with others.

Minimum Skills, Requirements, and Qualifications

  • High School or GED equivalent.
  • Cashier experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred.
  • Standing, walking, lifting (up to 25lbs) and climbing.

Compensation Details

$12 - $14 per hour
