Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled doctor to join our team as a Specialty Doctor in Oncology. The successful candidate will provide high-quality medical care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatments at our Medical Day Unit.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide Clinical Care: Deliver excellent day-to-day clinical care to patients attending the Medical Day Unit under the care of specific consultants.
  2. Consultant Liaison: Ensure that Medical Consultants are kept informed of their patients' progress at all times.
  3. Treatment Prescription: Prescribe systemic oncology treatments as per the consultant's treatment plan for individual patients.
  4. Outpatient Clinics: Contribute to and lead outpatient and prescription clinics as required.
  5. Team Collaboration: Work effectively with the nursing, pharmacy, and front-of-house teams to achieve an excellent streamlined service for patients and their relatives.
  6. Clinical Incidents: Manage acute clinical incidents on the medical day unit.
  7. Patient Communication: Take phone calls from patients and their families, answering any questions they may have regarding their disease, treatment, or side effects.
  8. Appraisal and Development: Undergo annual appraisal to assess performance and promote personal development.
  9. Medical Reports: Provide current and timely medical reports.
  10. Service Development: Work effectively as part of the medical day unit teams to contribute to the development of the service.
  11. Private Care: Carry out all duties related to private care as required.
  12. Professional Development: Maintain up-to-date evidence-based information through regular continuous professional development.
  13. Teaching and Training: Provide teaching to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff on the unit as required.
  14. Mandatory Training: Comply with all clinical and non-clinical mandatory training required by the Trust.
