We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialty Doctor to join our Medical Day Unit team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our oncology team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical care to patients undergoing systemic anti-cancer treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide expert medical care to patients attending the Medical Day Unit, including assessing their fitness for treatment and arranging routine investigations.
- Prescribe systemic oncology treatments as per the consultants' treatment plan for individual patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing information on disease management and treatment side effects.
- Contribute to outpatient and prescription clinics, and take informed consent for all patients undergoing systemic treatment.
- Work collaboratively with the nursing, pharmacy, and front-of-house teams to achieve an excellent streamlined service for patients and their relatives.
- Manage acute clinical incidents on the medical day unit and review patients who may become unwell.
- Provide teaching to medical, nursing, and pharmacy staff on the unit as required.
- Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent qualifications.
- Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council.
- Broad-based experience in oncology, including systemic therapies, at SpR level or equivalent.
- Four years' full-time postgraduate training in a relevant specialty or as a fixed-term specialty trainee in a relevant specialty.
