About the Role

The Pharmacy Technician will play a vital part in supporting the Clinical Pharmacist to deliver the General Practice model of care. This role is focused on leading improvements to maximize safe, cost-effective prescribing practices, ultimately enhancing the quality of patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the Clinical Pharmacist in delivering the General Practice model of care, including assisting a cluster of GP practices.
  • Lead improvements to maximize safe, cost-effective prescribing practices, reducing clinical risk and minimizing medication waste.
  • Collaborate with GP practices to promote repeat dispensing and online ordering, improving patient outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of medicines optimization principles, promoting good practice throughout the practice teams.
  • Support the GP Federation in achieving national requirements, NICE implementation, and medicines optimization initiatives.
  • Utilize information systems and databases relevant to the position, including incident reporting, prescribing data, and patient outcomes.
  • Work closely with the ICB Clinical Pharmacy in General Practice lead to ensure seamless collaboration and coordination.

Requirements

  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
  • Experience working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy.
