Our welcoming and innovative Pharmacy Department is in search of a proactive and visionary individual to join our team, responsible for overseeing, guiding, organizing, and evaluating the performance of our Pharmacy Stores team.

Key Responsibilities

The role of Stores & Distribution Supervisor focuses on upholding high operational standards and ensuring effective and secure distribution systems. Core duties include:

  • Ordering critical supplies to avert shortages.
  • Acting as an accredited deputy responsible person to carry out daily Wholesaler Dealer Authorisation (WDA) licensed activities.
  • Organizing team workloads efficiently.

A significant aspect of this position involves ensuring that services and facilities adhere to all elements of Good Distribution Practice (EU GDP 2013/C 343/01) and other pertinent regulations and quality standards.

Additional responsibilities encompass assisting with staff training, serving as a superuser for pharmacy automation systems, troubleshooting issues, and providing guidance and support to the operational lead regarding all facets of regulatory audits (both internal and external). Furthermore, this role includes supporting the Trust Outpatient Pharmacy and collaborating with fellow pharmacy team members to enhance patient care and workflow.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Upholding high operational standards consistently.
  • Organizing and supervising the workflow in pharmacy stores while ensuring safe working practices.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • NVQ level 3 in Pharmacy Services and a BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent qualification and knowledge).
  • Current Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Desirable

  • Accredited Checking Technician qualification or eligibility to pursue it.
  • NVQ assessor to A1 standard or equivalent or eligibility to work towards it.
  • Practice Supervisory Training.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience as a hospital Pharmacy Technician or supervisory experience in a community pharmacy.
  • Recent practical experience in a busy dispensing environment.
  • Experience in training individuals.

Desirable

  • Experience in supervising, directing, organizing, and monitoring performance in a high-pressure environment.
  • Familiarity with Careflow MM, the hospital pharmacy computer system.
  • Procedure development experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Good Distribution Practice and other relevant regulations, guidance, and quality standards.

Skills

Essential

  • Comprehensive understanding of current hospital pharmacy practices.
  • Knowledge of legal requirements (Law and Ethics) for dispensing and supplying medicines, including Controlled Drugs.
