Ridge Green Medical Centre is seeking a dedicated part-time Pharmacy Support Specialist to become a vital member of our established Pharmacy Team. Our team comprises experienced professionals, including Pharmacists and prescription clerks, all committed to delivering exceptional healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities
As a Pharmacy Support Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our healthcare practice, working under the guidance of the Senior Clinical Pharmacist and collaborating with GP partners. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting thorough medicines reconciliation in line with practice protocols and ensuring accurate updates to patient medical records and prescriptions.
- Assisting in medication reviews, with support provided for your professional development in this area.
- Contributing to the achievement of the practice's prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
- Collaborating with the pharmacy team to enhance and refine repeat prescribing protocols and standard operating procedures, aimed at improving the efficiency of our systems.
- Participating in medication audits to ensure compliance and quality.
- Supporting the Clinical Pharmacist and GP Partners in delivering medication reviews, creating patient information materials, and promoting medicine awareness within your scope of practice.
- Taking a proactive stance on the safe management of prescriptions, including risk assessment and recommendations for improvements.
- Addressing medication and prescription inquiries from patients and staff professionally, directing them to the appropriate clinician as per practice protocols.
- Advising on the sourcing and safe management of medications as necessary.
- Acknowledging and responding to MHRA safety alerts through systematic searches.
Candidate Profile
Required Experience
- Proven experience as a qualified registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital settings.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Excellent communication skills, particularly over the phone.
- Strong time management abilities, including planning and organization.
- Capability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to adhere to established policies and procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with SystmOne TPP.
Essential Qualifications
- Professional registration with GPhC.
- BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development.
Desirable Qualifications
- Completion of the primary care pharmacy education pathway.
