Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Hawthorn Medical Centre. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacists and healthcare professionals in delivering high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide support to clinical pharmacists in managing daily patient prescription requirements, including resolving patient and pharmacy queries.
  • Manage and process discharge summaries and clinical letters.
  • Undertake patient-facing and patient-supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use through shared decision-making conversations with patients.
  • Review patient medication and run medication review clinics, either patient-facing or virtually, including in care homes.
  • Carry out medicines optimisation tasks, including effective medicine administration, supporting medication reviews, and medicines reconciliation.
  • Provide specialist expertise to address public health and social care needs of patients, including lifestyle advice, service information, and help in tackling local health inequalities.
  • Manage MHRA alerts and actions, including leading the receipt and understanding of the alert, communicating with PCN contacts, and completing associated actions.
  • Undertake clinical audits, supporting quality improvement measures, and contributing to QOF and enhanced services.

Person Specification
  • Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences.
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD).
  • Previous experience working in primary care is desirable.
  • Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy is desirable.
