Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Pharmacy Technician to support our team at Hawthorn Medical Centre. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of patient medications.

Main Responsibilities

Key duties include:

  • Providing support to Clinical Pharmacists in managing daily patient prescription requirements
  • Resolving patient and pharmacy queries, including out-of-stock medications and ETP queries
  • Managing and processing discharge summaries and clinical letters
  • Undertaking patient-facing and patient-supporting roles to ensure effective medicines use
  • Reviewing patient medication and running medication review clinics
  • Providing specialist expertise to address public health and social care needs
  • Managing MHRA alerts and actions
  • Undertaking clinical audits and contributing to quality improvement measures

Person Specification

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • Professional registration with the GPhC
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Previous experience working in Primary Care
  • Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community, or hospital pharmacy

  • Computer literacy with ability to use GP clinical systems and Microsoft Office packages
  • Ability to analyse and interpret prescribing data
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills
