Job Description

Job Title: Advanced Medicines Optimisation Technician

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Medicines Optimisation Technician to join our clinical pharmacy team at The Great Western Hospitals NHS FT. As an Advanced Medicines Optimisation Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our clinical pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to manage the clinical needs of patients on our acute medicine wards and admissions wards.
  • Provide expert clinical knowledge to prioritise the clinical pharmacy needs of patients and wards, supporting the clinical ward/team pharmacist.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, safe, and high-quality patient-centred clinical pharmacy service, contributing innovatively and proactively to the changing demands on the service.
  • Collaborate with pharmacy and Trust-wide colleagues to embed clinical pharmacy services into new patient pathways.
  • Advocate for and champion pharmacy clinical services ward-based services in your nominated division.
  • Lead in developing the role of the advanced medicines optimisation technician within the division and the wider Trust.
  • Work with minimal supervision to provide an admission, supply, and discharge service to nominated wards, liaising directly with pharmacists, medical, and nursing staff over complex or sensitive clinical issues.

Requirements:

  • Pharmacy technician working in all healthcare settings with transferable knowledge and skills required for the role.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with pharmacy and Trust-wide colleagues.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and expertise in medicines optimisation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
