We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Advanced Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy Medicines Effectiveness team as a Medicines Effectiveness Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for a clinical pharmacist to provide maternity cover for our 8a Advanced Pharmacist (Medicines Effectiveness) and contribute to the development of our medicines formulary and commissioning processes.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with pharmacy, clinical, finance, and commissioning colleagues to introduce safe, clinically effective, and cost-efficient medicines to our formulary and integrate them into our prescribing practice.
- Provide information and support to the Lead Pharmacy Technician (Medicines Effectiveness) in managing the introduction of new formulary medicines, including medicines with positive NICE TAs and PBR-excluded medicines.
- Lead our PME team in the absence of the Lead Pharmacist (Clinical Commissioning & Medicines Value) and advance clinical skills with a regular commitment to our clinical pharmacy service.
- Act as an advanced clinical pharmacist, delivering clinical pharmacy services to an agreed ward or patient group, with opportunities for independent prescribing.
- Line manage a junior clinical pharmacist, with potential involvement in recruitment, induction, appraisal, attendance management, performance review, and management.
We are looking for a highly experienced and qualified pharmacist with a strong clinical background and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have a postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Experience of working across departmental and organisational boundaries, knowledge of financial systems and structures within the NHS, and understanding of current commissioning arrangements and national medicines effectiveness programs are essential.
Desirable qualifications and experience include membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, management training, and experience of producing Trust/network-wide guidelines and/or policy documents.
