Position Title: Lecturer in Languages at the University of Hertfordshire

The Lecturer in Languages is responsible for delivering Spanish instruction across various levels within both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs, covering the spectrum from A1 to C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. This role requires the application of diverse pedagogical approaches suitable for both traditional classroom settings and online platforms, alongside the creation and dissemination of pertinent educational resources, while also offering guidance and constructive feedback to learners.

  • Oversee and assess the content and quality of course modules
  • Collaborate effectively with the CASE and Languages department
  • Engage in academic research and professional development activities
  • Encourage and promote language acquisition throughout the institution
  • Contribute to the development and validation of curricula

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in teaching Spanish at an Advanced level
  • Native or near-native fluency in both spoken and written Spanish
  • Familiarity with contemporary Spanish language and Hispanic Studies
  • Capability to inspire and engage students
  • Strong organizational and communication abilities

Required Qualifications:

  • Honours degree in Spanish and/or Hispanic Studies
  • Teaching qualification or relevant teaching experience
  • Proficiency in English
  • Master's degree in a related field is preferred
  • Associate or Fellow status with the Higher Education Academy is preferred
