About the Role

We are pleased to announce an opportunity for an Environmental Sustainability Trainee to join our dedicated team during the summer for a duration of 16 weeks. This position will operate on a hybrid model, with on-site attendance expected 2-3 days each week.

The ideal candidate will deliver extensive administrative and clerical assistance to the sustainability and environmental performance team. Candidates should be pursuing or have completed a relevant undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in environmental management or sustainability, and hold student membership in a recognized professional organization (such as CIWEM or IEMA). We seek individuals who are self-driven, organized, and meticulous, demonstrating the ability to take initiative and execute tasks or projects to exceptional standards.

In this role, you will acquire experience across various domains related to Sustainability and Climate Change.

Key Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or have completed a relevant undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in environmental management or sustainability.
  • Active student membership in a relevant professional organization (CIWEM, IEMA).
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to take initiative in delivering high-quality tasks or projects.
  • Insight and understanding of environmental management, waste management, and associated issues.
  • General work experience demonstrating the ability to work independently, collaboratively, and with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of handling inquiries professionally and courteously.
  • High levels of assertiveness, resourcefulness, and initiative.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and similar applications.
  • A flexible approach to work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Scottish Pollution Prevention and Waste Legislation.
  • Valid UK/EU/EEA Driving License.

Contract Details

  • Fixed Term for 16 weeks
  • Full-time
  • 37 hours per week

Location and Work Schedule

This position will be based within the Planning, Property & Performance department.

The work schedule for this role is Monday to Friday.
